Playoff Pairings – Round of Three

The regular season has wrapped up and the matchups are now established.  As a reminder, seeding is determined by points, then wins, head to head, and then point differential.

Yellow closed the season with a win over Neon to lock up the first seed, leading the league with 29 points.  With the first seed, Yellow will match up against Orange, Black, and Neon.  Yellow has a 4-0-2 record against these teams in the regular season, opening against Orange where Yellow won both prior matches.

Green backed into the second seed with a loss to Teal, finishing with 26 points.  With the second seed, Green will match up against Gold, Red, and Silver.  Green has a 5-1-0 record against these teams in the regular season, opening against Gold where they split the season series, trading wins.

Purple held on to the third seed by fending off Black in their regular season finale, finishing with 22 points.  With the third seed, Purple will match up against Teal, Red, and Silver.  Purple has a 4-1-1 record against these teams in the regular season, opening against Silver where Purple won each of their meetings.

Teal finished strong with a win over Green, which it needed to hold onto the fourth seed, earning 20 points.  With the fourth seed, Teal will face Purple, Black, and Neon.  Teal has a 4-1-1 record against these teams in the regular season, opening against Neon where they won both regular season meetings.

Gold closed with a win over Red, earning 19 points and the fifth seed.  With the fifth seed, Gold will face Green, Orange, and Neon.  Gold has a 3-2-1 record in the regular season against these teams, opening against Green where they traded regular season wins.

Orange jumped into the sixth seed with a season ending win over Silver, finishing with 17 points.  With the sixth seed, Orange will face Yellow, Gold, and Silver.  Orange has a 1-4-1 record against these teams, opening against Yellow where Orange is lost both meetings so far.

Black fell short on closing night against Purple, and fell back to the seventh seed with 16 points.  With the seventh seed, Black will face Yellow, Teal and Red.  Black has a 1-2-3 record against these teams, opening against Red where they have split the season’s meetings.

Red fell to Gold to end the season, finishing with 14 points and the eighth seed.  With the eighth seed, Red will face Green, Purple, and Black.  Red is 1-4-1 against these teams in the regular season, and opens against Black where they each earned a win.

Silver finished with 10 points after falling to Orange in their regular season finale, earning the ninth playoff seed.  With the ninth seed, Silver will face Green, Purple, and Orange.  Silver is 1-5 against these teams, opening against Purple who has defeated them in both meetings so far.

Neon fell to Yellow in their finale, earning 9 points and the tenth seed.  With the tenth seed, Neon will face Yellow, Teal, and Gold.  Neon is 1-5 against these teams, opening against Teal who has defeated them in both meetings so far.

All teams are guaranteed these three games, after which the top 4 point earners in these three games will advance (2 points for a win, 1 for a tie, 0 for a loss), with the higher seed winning the tiebreakers to advance to the semi-finals. Good luck to all!
