Heading into the final week of the regular season, there are many playoff position battles! As a reminder, regular season seeding is determined by:
1) Points
2) Wins
3) Head to head
4) Point differential
Sunday’s matchups
In the first matchup of the night at 5:00, Gold versus Purple, each team is in a position battle. Gold enters the night with the most on the line, a win and they sit in the number one spot, forcing Neon and Teal to win if they want to pass Gold, finishing the night no worse than third. A tie and they finish third. A loss and they wait to see if Green passes them and bumps them to fourth! A Purple win and they lock up 7th, a tie or loss and they wait to see if Red bumps them to 8th.
In the next game at 6:00, Silver versus Teal, a Teal win or tie moves them into first, forcing Neon to match or exceed to claim that spot. A loss leaves them no worse than third. Silver will finish in tenth, looking to start their first winning streak before the playoffs!
In the third game at 7:00, Orange versus Yellow, Orange will lock up the fifth seed with a win, or otherwise wait to see if Black will bump them to sixth. Yellow will finish in 9th!
The fourth game of the night at 8:00 is Red versus Green. If Gold lost earlier, a Green win moves them ahead of Gold into third, otherwise it is a fourth place finish. If Purple lost or tied earlier, Red has the opportunity to move up to seventh, otherwise they will finish eighth.
The final game of the regular season is a 9:00 rematch between Black and Neon. An Orange loss earlier leaves the door open for Black to pass them to fifth, otherwise they will finish in sixth. Neon can finish first, second, or third. If both Gold and Teal passed them in earlier games, a win puts them back in first.
Round of three matches are based on seed.
The first seed (Neon, Teal, or Gold) will face 6 (Orange or Black), 7 (Purple or Red), and 10 (Silver).
The second seed (Neon, Teal, or Gold) will face 5 (Orange or Black), 8 (Purple or Red), and 9 (Yellow).
The third seed (Neon, Teal, Gold, or Green), will face 4 (Gold or Green), 8 (Purple or Red), and 9 (Yellow).
The fourth seed (Gold or Green), will face 3 (Neon, Teal, Gold, or Green), 7 (Purple or Red), and 10 (Silver).
The fifth seed (Orange or Black) will face 2 (Neon, Teal, or Gold), 6 (Orange or Black), and 10 (Silver).
The sixth seed (Orange or Black) will face 1 (Neon, Teal, or Gold), 5 (Orange or Black), and 9 (Yellow).
The seventh seed (Purple or Red) will face 1 (Neon, Teal, or Gold), 4 (Gold or Green), and 8 (Purple or Red).
The eighth seed (Purple or Red) will face 2 (Neon, Teal, or Gold), 3 (Neon, Teal, Gold, or Green), and 7 (Purple or Red).
The ninth seed (Yellow) will face 2 (Neon, Teal, or Gold), 3 (Neon, Teal, Gold, or Green), and 6 (Orange or Black).
The tenth seed (Silver) will face 1 (Neon, Teal, or Gold), 4 (Gold or Green), and 5 (Orange or Black).
Look for updates next week about the Playoffs and matchups. Each team will have three games scheduled over the next five weeks. While the lower seeds certainly have a tougher schedule to make it to the semi-finals, all teams will begin the Playoffs needing only three wins to ensure their semi-final berth. Good luck!
