The regular season has wrapped up and the matchups are now established. As a reminder, seeding is determined by points, then wins, head to head, and then point differential. The three games per team will be played over the next five weeks, so each team will be idle on Super Bowl Sunday, and one of the other weeks. The schedule for the next five weeks is now available on AOTHA.com.
Neon closed the season on a six game winning streak to secure the 1st seed, tied in overall points with Teal but with a tie breaker for the most wins (the only team that didn’t tie this season). Neon will face Black, Purple, and Silver as a reward, who they are a perfect 6-0 against this regular season. Neon will open their playoffs with the second game of the night, a 7:30 matchup with Black.
Teal bounced back in the final week with a win over Silver to secure the 2nd seed. With this finish, Teal will face Orange, Red, and Yellow, who they are a perfect 6-0 against in the regular season. They will open with the first game of the playoffs at 6:30 against Orange.
Gold entered the final night of the regular season with 1st through 4th in sight, and tied Purple to lock down 3rd and no games to be played could change it! With this finish, they secured matchups with Yellow, Green, and Red whom they have 5 ties against, and 1 win! Gold will face a Yellow team they tied twice on the final game of the playoff’s opening night, at 8:30.
Green won their finale against Red to secure the 4th seed, and earned matchups with Silver, Gold, and Purple. Green finished 2-1-3 against these teams in the regular season and will be idle on the first night of the playoffs. Green will open their playoff run at 7:30 on 2/1 against Silver, who they defeated in both meetings.
Orange defeated Yellow on their final night of the regular season and secured the 5th seed. Here they will face Teal, SIlver, and Black, who they are a combined 1-3-2 against. Orange opens the playoffs with the first game at 6:30 against Teal, who they lost against twice in their previous meetings.
Black backed into the playoffs on a four game losing streak, finishing in the 6th seed. Despite the fall, this earned them matchups with Neon, Yellow, and Orange, who they are 3-2-1 against so far. Black opens with a 7:30 rematch with Neon, who gave them the two losses in that stat.
Purple closed with a tie, and one point behind Black, for the 7th seed. This earns them meetings with Red, Neon, and Green, who they are 0-3-3 against. Purple is idle on the first night of the playoffs, opening the second night at 6:30 on 2/1 against Red, who they tied once and lost to once.
Red suffered its third straight loss backing into the 8th seed on the final night. Red earned rematches with Purple, Teal, and Gold in this round, who they are 1-2-3 against so far. Red will be idle on opening night, meeting Purple to open the second night of the playoffs at 6:30 on 2/1, who they have defeated and tied so far.
Yellow lost to close their regular season and finish with the 9th seed. This earns rematches with Gold, Black and Teal, who they are 0-4-2 against so far. Yellow will skate in the final game of opening night at 8:30 against a Gold team they have tied twice.
Silver enters the playoffs seeking their first wins with the 10th seed. This seed isn’t forgiving with earned matchups against Green, Orange, and Neon, who they are 0-5-1 against this season. SIlver will be idle on the first night and their first playoff action will be on the second night at 7:30 on 2/1 against a Green team who has defeated them twice.
All teams are guaranteed these three games, after which the top 4 point earners in these three games will advance (2 points for a win, 1 for a tie, 0 for a loss), with the higher seed winning the tiebreakers to advance to the semi-finals. Good puck luck to all!
